Join a small team developing SIKU, the Indigenous Knowledge Social Network, helping facilitate self-determination for Indigenous communities in Canada and beyond.
You will join a team responsible for the feature development and maintenance of the SIKU Android app.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience with databases (Realm and Room).
- 3+ years of experience working with Kotlin.
- Comfortable with imperative (XML) and declarative (Jetpack Compose) programming.
- Familiar with MVVM architecture, Firebase authentication, Notifications and using Services.
- Experience with reactive programming using Livedata and Kotlin Flows.
- Comfortable using Retrofit networking and Dagger Hilt dependency injection libraries
- Has deployed apps to the Google Play Store.
- Proficient with Bitbucket.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a strong ability to code review others’ work and accept feedback on your work.
- Well adapted to an agile working environment where iteration and addressing feedback is at the core of getting things done.
- Good problem-solving, proactive, capable of scoping out and resolving unexpected issues.
- High level of reading, writing and speaking in English and be eligible to work in Canada
Good to have
- Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence)
- Geospatial mapping development experience in Mapbox SDK
- Unit testing experience
Contract Details
- Type: Contract
- Duration: 1-year contract with the possibility of renewal
- Location: Remote/Work-from-home.
- The Arctic Eider Society is based in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut and has over 10 years of experience working as a remote team from coast to coast to coast.
- Hours: 35-40 hours per week
- Salary: Between $35-$50 /hour, commensurate with experience.
